Guild Service Overview

On the 3rd Sunday of each month, September through May, the Guild provides donuts after the 8 and 10am masses. This is an opportunity for the families of St Mary parish to gather after mass to enjoy donuts, coffee and juice.

The women of the Guild provide a funeral luncheon for the family of a St Maryʼs parishioner following their funeral mass. Guild members bake and assemble a luncheon in the Parish Center Living Room. This is an optional service for families who would like a place to gather following the funeral.

Every 3 months, on the first Friday, The Church of St. Mary offers a memorial mass. Following this mass, Guild members provide fresh fruit, baked goods, coffee and juice for the families in attendance in the lower level of the church

The primary mission of this ministry is to assist our priests on wedding days and to organize the bridal processionals for weddings that are conducted at our parish. A secondary goal is to provide welcome and hospitality to bridal parties and their families on the evening of the rehearsal as well as the wedding day. Contact Cecee Reagan to join this beautiful ministry.

Circles take turns bringing a a hot dinner for 50 men up to the PADS shelter on the second Friday of the month. Meals are delivered to the Parish Center by 5:15 where Deacon Jack Herrmann or the Circle will take it up and serve the men.

In October, the month of the Rosary, we gather in the church for three afternoons and one night to pray the rosary with meditations. We gather each week on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday to meditate on the mystery for that day. The Wednesday night rosary is prayed in front of the Eucharist during Adoration.

The Christmas Sharing Tree is one of the biggest service projects the Guild provides, but has gone through a radical change due to Covid. It begins in late November and concludes in mid December with the delivery of gift cards (instead the bags of wrapped presents) to families at Academy of our Lady Parish in Waukegan.

The Senior Citizen Luncheon is held in March at the St. Maryʼs Gym. Seniors from the Lake Forest Senior Center along with seniors from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff are invited for an afternoon of lunch, entertainment and Bingo. Students from the School of St. Mary help by greeting, serving and assisting the seniors. The Guild also bakes dozens of cookies and provides $5 gift cards for the Bingo prizes.

The Church provides several hundred family Easter baskets to Academy of Our Lady School and Most Blessed Trinity Food Pantry in Waukegan. This Guild project begins 3 weeks before Easter when flyers detailing the Basket project are handed out at mass. Parishioners are asked to return their wrapped “family basket” the weekend before Easter when they are transported by circle members to Waukegan.

The Spring Mass and Brunch is the Guild's end of year celebration which also honors our Woman of the Year. It's a day filled with faith and fellowship. Mass is held at 9:30 in the church followed by brunch and a speaker. The event usually runs until noon.
